Tina Smit, born in Windhoek, Namibia, grew up on a farm in Aranos before moving to the coastal town of Swakopmund at the age of 11. After completing a Certificate in Web Development & Graphic Design, as well as a photography course, Tina quickly entered the world of travel, beginning her career in the tourism industry straight after school. She spent several years working in Namibia’s tourism sector before setting sail on a cruise ship, where she worked as a photographer and had the chance to explore destinations across the globe.
Upon returning to Namibia, Tina shifted focus for a time, working in the diamond industry, but her love for travel and adventure soon brought her back to the tourism sector. Over the years, she has built a diverse skill set, working in various roles that have allowed her to share her passion for Namibia’s natural beauty with travellers from around the world. Now, as a travel consultant for Namibia Tours & Safaris, Tina is excited to help guests discover the best of her home country.
Among Tina’s favourite places in Namibia are Waterberg, where the lush green landscapes offer a striking contrast to the surrounding desert, and Damaraland, with its dramatic vistas and sense of untouched wilderness. While she’s had the chance to visit incredible destinations abroad, including Lahaina in Hawaii, Petra in Jordan, and Qaqortoq in Greenland, she believes there’s nowhere quite like Namibia.
When she’s not at work, Tina enjoys reading, particularly biographies, and spending time with her family. She also loves camping, especially in remote locations that allow her to reconnect with nature. Tina finds immense joy in sharing the magic of Africa with others and is passionate about creating unforgettable travel experiences that leave a lasting impact.
