The Skeleton Coast, Etosha National Park and Spitzkoppe in Damaraland. One of my most favourite things to do is to go camping at Spitzkoppe, the beauty of that night sky never gets old!
I love going on trips with my family and seeing the world through my daughters eyes, so I really enjoy planning family trips, self-drives and private guided safaris.
Okonjima Bush Camp in Central Namibia and Etosha Village in Etosha National Park but I also really love Desert Homestead, Shipwreck Lodge, Mowani Mountain Camp and Onguma The Fort.
The 16 Day Namibia, Chobe and Victoria Falls Safari, It's so diverse and allows you to explore the main highlights of 3 countries in just over two weeks. It's incredible!
In Namibia - Etosha National Park, seeing the lions at the Okaukuejo waterhole after waiting a couple hours at night for them to appear. In South Africa – when I was a young girl my grandfather was the head chef at a game lodge and my grandmother would wake us up in the middle of the night when the antelope and other wildlife came into her garden.
Don’t be too rigid about planning everything for each day, some moments are meant to be spontaneous. There is always something unexpected and wonderful waiting around the corner if you open your mind and throw some caution to the wind. Within reason of course!
Take plenty of photographs for memories, but also allow some time to put the camera down and take in the beauty of it all.

Originally from South Africa, first from Pretoria and later Cape Town, Simone is now a proudly self-proclaimed Namibian. Well, she has been here permanently since 2007, but it’s more than that - once you’ve been here, you’ll know what we mean. She’s married to a Namibian (who previously also worked for NTS) and together with their beautiful daughter Leah, they’re now based in the coastal town of Henties Bay.
Simone came from a background in retail, freight and admin, but made a lifestyle change after Leah was born and joined the NTS team in Windhoek in 2018 as our meet and greet agent for two years. After a gap of two years, she’s back again, this time at our head office in Swakopmund, as a travel expert. Hooray!
Simone has a huge knowledge of all things travel-related in Namibia. From previously being the friendly face to greet you on arrival to now staking her claim as one of the most clued up travel experts in the office, she’ll ensure you’re ready for your journey. From planning to travel itself, Simone has got loads of advice and plenty of tips and might even be more excited for your holiday than you, but we can’t blame her, she knows what lies ahead. An adventure like no other!
On the ball and quick to action, nothing gets past her or is left to chance. Simone is sociable and outgoing, organised and ordered by nature. Cool, calm and collected, she’s on top of it, got it under control and with grace, we might add. With her as your travel expert and ‘go to’ whilst on the road, you’re in great hands, that’s for sure.
Of her favourite places to travel, she’ll tell you that anywhere with great scenery and a view to lose yourself in is her favourite, so good news for Simone she can travel anywhere in Namibia, it’s all right there on her very own doorstep. If she can hike, be outdoors or near the beach in warm weather, she’s sold. It’s no wonder she loves Namibia so much.
In her other life, you’ll definitely find her doing something creative or crafty, that’s if she isn’t supporting her husband on the local music scene or cooking up a storm and trying out a new recipe. Maybe she’ll invite us for dinner. We certainly wouldn’t mind - nudge nudge.
Simone’s favourite quote by Ludwig Jacobowski, “Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened”, is a sentiment to leave Namibia with, although we get it if you shed a tear on your flight back home. We know most do and we also know why!
Our guides are exceptional human beings one and all. Their love of people, country, history, flora, fauna and a jolly good time is entirely contagious and their professionalism, expertise and trustworthiness will set your heart at ease from the moment you leave the arrivals terminal.
