Kirsti's favourite destinations:

Although Namibia as a whole is such a beautiful place, and has so much to offer, I would have to say that the Kalahari is one of my favourite destinations. I absolutely love the red sand dunes and the vast open spaces.

Her areas of expertise:

I would hate to have to limit myself to one specific area of expertise, however I think being the easy going and people person that I am, I would be rather be flexible on creating the perfect itinerary for any potential client/s.

Favourite lodges:

Out of all the lodges I have been to, I would say that Anderssons at Ongava, Hoanib Valley Camp and Kalahari Anib Lodge are my favourites. Each offering their own special experience and uniqueness.

Favourite itinerary:

The 16 Day Namibia, Delta, Chobe & Victoria Falls Safari – whether it be a self-drive or private guided tour. I definitely think that while you are here, in Namibia, you may as well add a couple of days to your itinerary to experience what our neighbouring countries have to offer too. The best of all worlds actually.

Best memory on safari:

Ah, this is a difficult one for me. I really cannot narrow it down to one best memory, as travelling in itself is just incredible and every time is a different experience and different and amazing memories are made along the way.

Travel tip:

Do some research on the activities and sites that every area has to offer, to ensure you don’t miss out on anything that you would want to do while on vacation. Of course we're also there to assist. and make sure you get the most out of your holiday.

Best kept travel secret:

Take it all in, literally just give yourself a few minutes to savour every moment of every experience. It’s almost like “you don’t know what you have until its gone” – when you get back to your everyday life, you will find yourself reminiscing about all the great times you had and wish you could go back to it and when you eventually do go on your next adventure, you will make new and exciting memories.

Favourite travel quote:

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” ~ Gustave Flaubert

Her story...

She grew up and went to school in Walvis Bay before a gap year, au pairing in America and like most Namibians, Kirsti enjoyed only a short stint overseas before returning back home to the land of the brave.

Intellectual, diligent and well, an all-round smarty pants, Kirsti obtained a higher certificate in Hotel Management as well as a certificate for Conference and Events Management, all while working full time, studying by post.

She began a career in tourism working for a popular hotel in Swakopmund, but looking for new challenges, Kirsti found her way into the NTS family and voila she’s now an asset to the NTS team. We consider ourselves lucky to have her on our payroll.

Kirsti comes from a tight knit family and has a great relationship with her 2 older brothers. She’s the youngest by 10 and 12 years. Perhaps it was following in their footsteps that sparked her love for all things adrenaline. Yip, she’s the bungee jumping, white water rafting and quad biking in the dunes kind of girl.

Kirsti is a peoples’ person with a crazy love for animals, owning 5 cats and 3 dogs. She enjoys spending time at home with her husband, four-legged friends or being out and about socializing with family and her closest mates doing activities or playing board games. She is a great baker by her own standards and does everything and anything with a smile on her face.

For travel, Kirsti is happy to rough it for a few nights if it’s worth the experience, otherwise she’d prefer to lodge, although this need not be fancy. For her it’s really more about the location and that means travelling just about anywhere in Namibia, with so much on offer.

Other than Swakopmund, Kirsti loves the vastness of the Kalahari, the red sand dunes and contrasting surrounds. The variety of horizons and of course, the sunsets.

Kirsti looks forward to welcoming you to Namibia, a country she is proud of. A chance to meet different people from all over the world, each with their own story. She’d gladly share hers with you.
