Born in Johannesburg in 1993, Geneva Mathias spent only her first year there before moving to Lüderitz and, later at the age of 12, to Swakopmund - a place she has called home ever since. After completing her schooling at ISWB in Walvis Bay, Geneva studied Photography and Design in Cape Town and also completed an online course in event planning. Her early career included working as an au pair in the Cape Winelands before becoming a manager at Habitat Home Décor, where her flair for organisation and creativity shone through.
In 2020, Geneva returned to Namibia permanently and has now joined the Namibia Tours & Safaris team as a Travel Consultant. For her, travel is all about creating unforgettable memories, and she is passionate about helping clients plan holidays that capture the magic of Namibia. Her favourite destinations include the lush waterways of the Caprivi and her beloved Swakopmund, though Etosha holds a special place in her heart for its incredible game drives.
A true Namibian at heart, Geneva loves camping under the stars, sipping her morning coffee in nature, and indulging in the occasional touch of luxury. Some of her fondest safari memories include a guided sunrise walk at Ai Aiba and a family trip to the Caprivi spent playing board games on a rain-soaked deck overlooking the river, hippos grunting in the background.
Outside of work, Geneva is a creative spirit with a passion for cooking, pottery, photography and design. She enjoys keeping active with early morning gym sessions and long walks on the beach with her two dogs, Blu and Po. Sundays are still reserved for family traditions, especially cooking big meals together. Her love of Namibia’s wide-open spaces is matched only by her appreciation for its sunsets - moments she believes should never be missed.
Her travel advice?
Pack sunblock, always layer your clothes for Namibia’s changeable weather, and don’t miss golden hour - the best time to take photos.
Her favourite travel quote sums it all up:
“Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta
Our guides are exceptional human beings one and all. Their love of people, country, history, flora, fauna and a jolly good time is entirely contagious and their professionalism, expertise and trustworthiness will set your heart at ease from the moment you leave the arrivals terminal.
