Daniella Lucas

Daniella grew up in the town of Tsumeb not far from the eastern side of Etosha National Park, a place she visited often in her childhood and, not surprisingly, one of her favourite places in the country for the incredible wildlife sightings and fond memories with her family.

Travel within Namibia has always been a pursuit and abroad, always an aspiration, which is why Daniella’s most recent endeavours saw her travel to the Netherlands as an au pair. Her adventures in Europe taught her that she absolutely loves travel and even more just how great Namibia is. Daniella always knew it, but as they say, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” and she now knows why.

Daniella enjoys being out in nature and loves the beach, which makes Swakopmund the perfect place to call home. The cooler coastal weather is also ideal for her favourite pastime - she’ll happily spend all weekend with her nose in a book.

If she can, she’ll head off to go camping and exploring at any chance she gets. Sleeping beneath the stars and stories around the fire are second to none. For Daniella this even trumps luxury although now and again she's more than happy to enjoy a spa treatment and a king size bed with Egyptian cottons. The best part of it is, Namibia has it all, so why not?

Daniella’s favourite quote by Jeanette Winterson goes: “Books and doors are the same thing. You open them, and you go through into another world.” Putting together Travel Diaries encompasses this sentiment for her.
