For fairly obvious reasons most parks in and around Namibia insist you stay within the safe confines of your vehicle. While you might happily take this sound advice on board it can be a bit of a bind when you're faced with the shot of a lifetime: storm clouds on the Etosha horizon; elephants having a frollick in the waterhole; wing mirror and A-pillar front and center.
Six of the Cruiser's seven passenger seats have large sliding windows, the roof pops up and we've thrown in air conditioning to sweeten the deal. Now you can make that shot and travel in comfort.
The Land Cruiser is a four-wheel drive workhorse with the power to tackle any terrain. Combine that with its extra weight and the ride becomes positively riverine.
The vehicle is open between the driver's and the rear seats making for an intimate experience with your guide. And the built-in PA system carries your guide's pearls all the way to the rear of this 18-foot cruise ship.
With an extra tank your range is around the 2,000km mark, which offers equal parts peace of mind and the ability to go way, way, way off the main tourist routes.
Please note: with its extended bulk, the Cruiser Safari Vehicle may only be driven by a qualified driver/guide and is not available for self-drive hire.
