Lana Joubert

Lana Joubert

Lana Joubert, a highly skilled and passionate freelance guide, was born on 25 May 1989 in Windhoek, Namibia. Her formative years were shaped by the rugged beauty of the Kalahari, where her father worked as a Karakul farmer outside Mariental. Later, her family moved to Henties Bay, a small coastal town where fishing and farm life were integral to her upbringing. These early experiences fostered Lana’s love for Namibia’s wilderness, which continues to inspire her career today.

After matriculating from Walvis Bay Private High School in 2007, Lana pursued her passion for travel and nature by studying Tourism Management in Stellenbosch, Cape Town. Her career began at Stellenbosch Hotel, where she gained valuable hospitality experience before qualifying as a travel agent. However, Lana soon realised her heart belonged in Namibia, away from the hustle of city life. Returning home, she joined Charlies Desert Tours in Swakopmund, leading excursions into the dramatic dry riverbeds and dunes. When the company was sold in 2013, she transitioned to Taleni Africa at Sossusvlei Lodge, initially managing activities before being promoted to Admin Manager. Despite thriving in this role, Lana missed the wild landscapes and decided to pivot her career.

Her next position at Kunene Tours and Safaris, based at Khowarib Lodge, allowed Lana to combine lodge management with guiding, further enhancing her expertise. She also developed a passion for challenging dune tours in Sandwich Harbour, excelling in a field dominated by men. As her reputation grew, Lana transitioned into freelance guiding, a role that gave her the freedom to design and lead bespoke tours. Over time, she became known for her ability to create immersive and authentic experiences, offering clients unique insights into Namibia’s culture, wildlife, and spectacular scenery.

Lana’s favourite Namibian destinations include the remote wilderness of Damaraland and Kaokoland, the iconic Sossusvlei with its stunning sunsets, and the dramatic landscapes of Sandwich Harbour. Beyond Namibia, she cherishes Chobe in Botswana, Addo Elephant National Park, and South Africa’s Winelands and Garden Route.

Her adventurous spirit, warm personality, and profound knowledge make her an exceptional guide, creating unforgettable experiences for travellers seeking the very best of Namibia.
