BüllsPort Guest Farm
2 stars
BüllsPort Guest Farm is at the foot of the Naukluft Mountains. It's one of the oldest farms in Namibia and it’s still a working one. 10,000 hectares and approximately 170 cattle. And there are horses too. Stunners bred for jumping and dressage.

BüllsPort Guest Farm Campsite
1 star
Pitch tent. Pitch perfect. Mountain camping. Naukluft mountain camping to be precise. Feel wild and free, sense the wildlife, deep breath the weather. There's just no way of knowing what kind of unexpected life experiences can result from spending the night in the wilderness. Get ready for a personal epiphany. You're on a farm 250km southwest of Windhoek. Looks like it's going to be a luscious day.

Camp Gecko
2 stars
There, in central Namibia, a mountain pass links the Khomas Highlands and the Namib Desert with a precipitous descent. And there, at its foot, is Camp Gecko. Your home, your pitch, your patch of nothing. A lone gecko wanders across the endless savanna.

Dead Valley Lodge
3 stars
One of only two lodges inside the restricted area to Sossusvlei, you'll be heading to the famous dunes at sunrise before the masses. Be the first to have access to Dead Vlei or Sossusvlei as day breaks. While you're snapping the perfect shot in dawn light, everyone else will still be queuing at the gate to enter.

Desert Camp
3 stars
Desert Camp, depending on how you chose to tour Namibia is either a luxury no-tent camping option or a first-class self-catering facility. Either way, you'll get a tranquil and secluded setting, a comfortable bed, a glorious shower and a sensational desert sunset. Guaranteed.

Desert Hills Glamping Camp
3 stars
As you traverse the endless Namib look for a ridge hiding a valley. Isolated, private. Beyond are the stark, stark desert plains. Sossusvlei is calling. Sand whispering. Hot, heady air. This is your base, your haven, your place to glamp. You're a remote traveller now so pack up the 4x4 or you won't make it in.

Desert Hills Lodge
4 stars
At a distant glance, Desert Hills Lodge looks like a formation of sociable weavers nests set out against an outcrop. Yellow-thatched huts, like those of the ancient San people, perfectly set out and well blended against a backdrop of the rugged, dry expanse of the desert.

Desert Homestead Lodge
3 stars
The Desert Homestead is a tranquil and unfussy lodge near Sossusvlei. Comfortable thatch chalets compliment the rich tapestry of the Namib Desert and the main living area is a serene salutation of the passing days.

Desert Homestead Outpost
4 stars
Desert Homestead Outpost is an upmarket, upscale, up-everything version of the Desert Homestead in the Namib Desert 30km from the entrance to Sossusvlei.

Desert Quiver Camp
3 stars
With its quirky yet somehow harmonious design Desert Quiver Camp, near the entrance to Sossusvlei, can be a luxury camping experience, a back-to-basics desert lodge or both. And the best part - it's entirely up to you.

Kulala Desert Lodge
3 stars
At Kulala Desert Lodge the sense of isolation is exaggerated by the vast plains, desolate dunes and rugged mountains that make up its 27,000ha private reserve.

Le Mirage Desert Lodge and Spa
3 stars
You will indeed rub your eyes several times upon first site of Le Mirage Desert Lodge. It looks like an ancient stone palace from north Africa complete with turrets and archers' peep-holes.

Little Kulala Lodge
5 stars
With an inverse proportion of size to luxury, Little Kulala is the flagship lodge of the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve near Sossusvlei.

Little Sossus Lodge & Campsite
2 stars
Little Sossus Lodge offers homegrown goodness in the middle of the world's oldest desert. About half an hour's drive from the entrance to the Sossusvlei park at Sesriem, this is an option for self-drivers on a budget. Not our first choice but a decent enough option during the busy season.

Namib-Naukluft Lodge

Like a string of new-age Haciendas, the Namib Naukluft Lodge hugs the base of a rocky outcrop and faces the oldest desert in the world.

Namibgrens Guest Farm
2 stars
Namibgrens Guest Farm is an excellent addition to your self-drive exploration of Namibia. The farm is on the edge of the great escarpment between Windhoek and the Namib Desert; the view on a clear day will have you gasping for the nearest gin and tonic.

Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge
3 stars
The stone-built domes at Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge look like something out of a George Lucas film. The result is a timeless synonym to the ancient desert that stretches for aeons into the hazy distance.

Sesriem Campsite
1 star
Despite the many excellent private accommodation options around Sossusvlei, the Sesriem Campsite, owned and run by Namibia Wildlife Resorts, draws a steady stream of campers and groups.

Sesriem Oshana Campsite
2 stars
Sesriem Oshana Campsite brings you a step closer to Sossusvlei, since you're inside the park gates, but still far enough away to avoid all the other tourists trying to get in. Nowhere is closer to the dunes and you get an hour's drop on all but residents of the other campsite at Sesriem.

Solitaire Country Lodge
1 star
Solitaire. In addition to the mystic appeal of a settlement so aptly named, the Solitaire Country Lodge is an excellent stop en route to or from Sossusvlei.

Sossus Dune Lodge
3 stars
Sossus Dune Lodge sits in an enviable location as it is the first of only two lodges built inside the restricted Sossusvlei area.

Sossus Oasis Campsite
2 stars
More a glampsite than a campsite, Sossus Oasis Campsite is an exceptional and much needed camping option in the Sossusvlei area hitherto dominated by the government-run Sesriem Campsite nearby.
Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.
Sossusvlei Lodge
3 stars
Sossusvlei Lodge is a comfortable and welcoming lodge on the edge of the Sossusvlei dunes and right at the entrance to Sesriem. Service and attention to detail is thorough and the chalets have private patios overlooking a floodlit waterhole and the desert and mountains beyond.

The Desert Grace
4 stars
Like the desert at sunset, an experience of textures and colours, from neutral earth to pink hues as the sun disappears beyond the horizon and the skyline becomes a silhouette. There. The Desert Grace in all her glory, in perfect reflection, is a mix of modern architecture, quirky attitude and luxury elegance.

The Elegant Desert Eco Camp
3 stars
In June of 2017 there was nothing here, just a mountain in the distance with rocks around it. Fast forward three months, squint, keep looking. There. A little line of desert-hued tents. A camp is born.

The Elegant Desert Lodge
3 stars
On approaching Elegant Desert Lodge, about 40km from Sesriem, the first thing you will notice is that it’s not exactly all that elegant. In fact it’s a fairly solid, stone-built, thatched-roofed monolith in the typical farmstead style of the early Dutch settler.

Tsauchab River Camp
2 stars
The Tsauchab River. With giant wild fig trees and clear springs. An ephemeral stream in the southern Naukluft Mountains. You’ll be right beside it. A natural phenomenon, it only flows when the rain falls and then it becomes the main source of water to Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei. Eventually, it all ends abruptly in a dry lake at the foot of the world’s highest dunes.

Tsondab Valley Lodge
3 stars
You'll be staying on a 17 thousand hectare private nature park in a desert and dune landscape. The closest town is Solitaire and describing this as a small place is a bit of an understatement. It's pretty much the only bit of civilisation between Sossusvlei and Walvis Bay. Tsondab Valley Lodge is in a very remote place.

We Kebi Safari Lodge
3 stars
We Kebi, meaning *invitation* in the language of the San people is a lodge that is welcoming, generous and hospitable. You'll gladly visit again and at such a good value, you sure can. Here's a lodge that offers a whole lot of bang for your buck and as a safari lodge, you're likely to see several varieties of the antelope kind as well. Score!
