Sossusvlei Lodge

Sossusvlei Lodge

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Despite its elaborate entrance, Sossuvlei Lodge is a down-to-earth lodge that offers good value and excellent service.

The 44 superior chalets and 6 standard chalets (inter-leading as family rooms) have interesting stretched canvas roofs and inside, an elegant, slight African theme with wooden finishes. Neat and comfortable with tiled floors, rustic and neutral elements to tie in with the desert surrounds and at the back an en-suite bathroom.

Each chalet has a private patio that looks out over a floodlit waterhole and the 44,000 hectares of private desert reserve. The rooms fan out sideways from the main complex, which is a maze of bars, dining areas, terraces, and a large swimming pool area.

On the furthest end, a junior suite, a step up from the rest and in complete privacy. A view out over the endless desert plains. Scenery. Tranquility. Silence.

Activities

Sossusvlei Lodge is close to the entrance gate to the Sossusvlei dunes and has an efficient adventure centre that will arrange and book everything for you. Activities include nature trails, hikes, off-road buggies; scenic flights and hot air balloon rides, sundowner drives, bush dinners, and guided excursions to the Sossusvlei dunes.

The private reserve is a fascinating showcase for the ancient living desert of the Namib. Desert-adapted species of animals, birds, plants, insects and reptiles make for an interesting and out of the ordinary nature experience.
