Here is a different side to the Namib Desert and one which is just as fascinating as the popular dunes of Sossusvlei. The Naukluft Mountains loom in the east and there are scenic drives through the mountain passes up the escarpment.
The lodge has 23 double rooms and two family rooms. All have en suite bathrooms, twin or double beds and they face a courtyard padded with grass and filled with an enormous swimming pool. There is a large patch of sand outside that is endearingly referred to as a campsite. You'll need to time your arrival and departure according to the meal times which are observed with monastic commitment.
The lodge forms one third of the town. The other two thirds are taken up by a small fuel station and a quirky general dealer who does a roaring trade in fresh-baked bread, paraffin oil and souvenirs.
Entertain yourself by the pool or take a scenic drive into the Naukluft Mountains
