Maxie Smith

A former teacher, assistant occupational therapist, hockey coach and Indoor Hockey World Cup participant for Namibia (ahem), Maxie is a go get ‘em, let’s do this, all or nothing kind of gal and we love that she brings that enthusiasm to our Windhoek team as a meet and greet rep for NTS.

She’s one of the friendly faces you’ll meet on arrival and you’ll be happily welcomed with open arms followed by her expertise and passion for travel in Namibia. She’s there to ensure you are ready for your safari and ready you will be. She’s thorough and with heaps of knowledge, you better grab a pen and paper to take notes (not to worry that’s included in your travel pack she’ll give you as well). Maxie will give you tips and tricks and she’ll gladly assist with any extras too.

Maxie loves Namibia and everything she knows is from first-hand experience. She has travelled the country extensively and although her first pick would usually be camping, she knows the lodges too, the areas you’ll visit, the route you’ll take and everything in between because she’s been there, done that and if she could join you, she’d go again too.

Being surrounded by nature is her favourite pastime. Camera in hand, even better and if it requires some sort of sport or recreational activity, you can be certain Maxie’s the first one there. She’s into fauna, flora and birds so it’s small wonder she’s explored almost all of Namibia already and as for the places she hasn’t yet been, you can be sure they’re on her bucket list.

Of her favourites, she’ll tell you Spitzkoppe is one of the best for the beautiful scenery and amazing photographic ops, especially at sunset. The Zambezi River comes in close second, as tranquil and enchanting with a cruise on the river, simply because it’s so vastly different from what you can experience in the rest of the country.

While her travels and claim to fame in hockey have taken her abroad to Poland, Spain, France and many other intriguing places, Namibia is somewhere she is proud to call home and eagerly looks forward to sharing with you. You need only come. Maxie’s got the rest sorted. You can be sure of that and she’s always on hand (along with your travel expert) whilst you’re in country too. Just in case you can’t make out everything you scribbled down when you met.
