Safaris in Namibia don’t get more personal and more relaxing than when you choose a private guided option.

Safaris in Namibia don’t get more personal and more relaxing than when you choose a private guided option.
Having an expert with you every step of the way during the day will make all the difference when you explore this vast, largely unpopulated country.
For starters, with 30 different languages spoken in Namibia, having a guide fluent in at least a few of those will stand you in good stead.
Then there’s tracking wildlife. Knowing where to go, where to look and when to be there can make all the difference between spotting those animals you want to see and missing them altogether.
And as far as relaxation goes, having a guide who’s ready to drive you between destinations means everyone can relax and enjoy the views from your vehicle without worrying if you’re going the right way to your next stop-off. And by the way, your guide won’t be offended if you want some private time just with your group during your tour.
You’ll doubtless do some research before your trip to Namibia, but a few places consistently stand out. Our guides are experts in the Namib Desert and its iconic dunes around Sossusvlei, the Kalahari Desert with its unique mix of wildlife and culture, and Etosha National Park north of Windhoek. The south of the country, including Swakopmund and the dramatic Fish River Canyon, is another highlight, while the haunting Skeleton Coast offers the chance to spot shipwrecks along one of the world’s most remote shorelines.

If a Namibia private guided safari isn’t quite what you’re after, a Namibia fly-in safari or a self-drive journey may be a better fit, each offering a different way to experience the country.

Binoculars for everyone – No matter how good your eyesight, having a pair of binoculars around your neck will increase your enjoyment by getting you closer to the wildlife. And making sure everyone has their own pair will pay off, as it ensures no arguments and that no one misses out on anything.
The early bird catches the worm – so the old saying goes. And it certainly rings true when on safari. Your guide will likely recommend you wake up at the crack of dawn on at least some of the days of your tour to give yourselves the best chance of seeing the showpiece wildlife. And you can always catch up on sleep while your guide’s driving you to your next destination.
Make the most of your guide – having an expert travelling with you has so many benefits, it would be a shame not to make full use of them. Their insights, local knowledge, contacts and tracking experience will all make your trip even more spectacular. And don’t be shy about asking them questions.

We always keep in mind the driving distances required each day. Even though your guide can be doing most if not all of the driving, you won’t want to be stuck in your vehicle all day. So we include plenty of stop-offs in your itinerary.
We’ll design your trip based around the information you give us. So we’ll need to know:

Namibia is a year-round destination and there’s always somewhere to go and something to see.
This is the most popular time of year for touring Namibia as the wildlife spotting is so good thanks to less plant life getting in the way. Etosha National Park is recommended, and because of its vast size and limited population, it’ll never feel overcrowded.
Camps are usually less expensive during these months as it’s the wet season. And birdwatchers in particular are drawn to Namibia at this time of year. Even though it’s classed as the wet season you can still expect to see plenty of clear blue skies, full of multiple bird species. The rain, when it comes, can be heavy but is usually limited to the afternoons.
At the risk of stating the obvious, the more time you have available, the more of Namibia you can comfortably see. Yes, you can try to cram as much as possible into a short period of time, but this isn’t recommended, as you could find yourself spending hour after hour on the road with little time to stop and enjoy the moment.

Stick to a specific region of Namibia and always try to spend more than one night in at least one camp, to break up the time you spend on the road and packing and unpacking between destinations.

Your guide will be able to show you plenty of what Namibia has to offer, but limited to the major highlights of the country.

Your itinerary can take in so much that Namibia has to offer when you have this much time for your private guided tour. And it’ll give you the best chance to really get to know your guide, and for them to show you the big attractions and lesser known destinations that make their homeland so spectacular.
Is Namibia a family-friendly destination for travel? Is it child friendly?
Namibia is friendly. Full stop. And if you’re travelling with children, even better - it’s a fantastic family destination. Many lodges are well set up for kids of all ages, often offering family-friendly rooms, pools and activities designed to keep younger travellers engaged.
When planning your trip, we’ll recommend lodges that work well for families, factor in realistic driving distances, and arrange child or booster seats for your rental vehicle where needed. We’ll also quote the correct child rates at each lodge and advise on any age-related restrictions for activities, so there are no surprises along the way.
From wide-open landscapes to wildlife encounters, there’s plenty in Namibia to delight children and the young at heart. If you’re wondering where to go and when to travel with kids, you can read more here. And, as always, make sure you have the required travel documents when travellling with minors - your consultant is happy to assist with any questions.
On a private guided tour, what activities are included?
Activities done with your private guide and vehicle are included in your itinerary, including visits to national parks and reserves where applicable, along with the relevant park entry fees. These typically cover game drives, scenic drives and other guided experiences that form part of your route.
Activities on private reserves, those led by lodge-based guides, and specialist experiences such as hot air ballooning, kayaking or quad biking aren’t included, but can easily be added and arranged for you if you’d like.
What guarantee do I have that on arrival, everything is sorted and arranged as per the planned itinerary?
NTS is a reputable company that has been in business for 35 years. Listing our credentials we are members of TASA (Tour and Safari Association of Namibia) and full members of NTB (Namibia Tourism Board). Unfortunately Namibia does not have an equivalent of ABTA – The Travel Association and ATOL (Air Travel Organiser's Licence) and while TASA would be able to assist in light of something happening, we always recommended personal travel insurance as well for your own protection. We pride ourselves in being one of the most professional tour operators and ground handlers in Namibia, but you don’t have to take our word for it alone, check out our Trip Advisor reviews of clients that have actually travelled with us.

Given the name of our business, you’d expect us to be experts in all things Namibia. And we won’t let you down.
We’re ready to share our love of our country with you, creating a private guided tour in which you’ll be in the safe and expert hands of one of the best guides in the country.
Let us know what you want from your safari experience, and we can arrange as much or as little of your tour as you want us to. It’s something we’ve been doing for over 35 years, and look forward to bringing our expertise to bear on your Namibia experience, making it one of the best holidays of your life.
