Guided and Independent Tours

Choosing between a guided or an independent (self-drive) tour depends on several factors not least of which is your budget. There’s no right or wrong. They’re both worthy of consideration for different reasons. Let us help you decide which is for you.

Namibia

You may think an organised tour is the scourge of the earth. And with good reason, having seen a busload of people descend upon Stonehenge or The Louvre. Namibia, however, is an exception.

The distances between destinations are huge with very few people and much to see along the way. Where a casual observer might see an endless gravel plain, your guide will stop and point out the fascinating and unique symbiosis between algae and lichen that is found nowhere else on earth.

And what's more, we specialise in private tours and small groups. You have your guide's full attention, the tour is flexible and you get an intimate and personal experience of the places you visit and the people you meet. The antithesis of a coach tour.

A guided safari in Namibia gets you further and to wilder places than a self-drive safari. The guides we use are experienced, knowledgeable and passionate.

A self-drive safari lets you travel at your own pace and explore in your time. The isolation in such foreign landscapes is a thrilling experience.

Botswana, Zambia and Victoria Falls

Because Botswana, Zambia and Victoria Falls are best explored as fly-in destinations, guided tours and safaris of these three countries are quite different from those offered in Namibia. Safari lodges in Botswana and Zambia all have full time guides who offer personal insight into their backyards of African wilderness.

A safari in Botswana and Zambia follows a similar routine: transfer (by light aircraft, boat or safari vehicle) to your lodge; stay a few nights at that lodge enjoying the in-house safari activities on offer, led by experienced, professional full-time guides; transfer to your next lodge and partake in the exciting guided activities there. And so on, each time being transferred to your next lodge until your last stop and transfer to the nearest international airport.

A personal guide throughout your journey does add incredible depth to your African safari and we do arrange custom guided safaris to Botswana, Zambia and Victoria Falls as well as Namibia. Talk to your Travel Expert now about the many exciting guided tour and safari options.
