Okuti

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

The architecture is an ingenious use of local materials and pioneering eco-design. The rooms are enormous reed domes on wooden decks beneath a thicket of trees on the edge of a gentle bend in the river.

Wooden walkways hover above the water, keeping the wilderness intact and maintaining the magical feeling of unearthly tranquility. The living area is dome-fronted mass of wooden decking facing the Xakanaka-bound river and the floodplains of the delta beyond.

Accommodation consists of five twin/double domes and two family units sleeping four each. Each unit has a large en suite bathroom with hot running water serving not one but two showers - the second being a delightful open-air option.

The main area has a high table dining area, an open deck - campfire story catalyst - and a large shaded lounge area. The furniture is handmade by local craftsman with great chunky logs and oversized cushions the raw materials.

Activities

Camp Okuti is a year-round lodge in the Okavango Delta of Botswana. Accessible by air or road, Okuti is relatively easy to reach making game drives into Moremi Game Reserve especially rewarding: plains game, aquatic mammals, birds, predators and of course, the Edenic scenery.

Water safaris are a delightful way to explore the Okavango and a safe way to approach elephant, hippo, crocodiles and the multitude of animals that drink at the water's edge including lions, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, leopard, hyena, wild dogs and a great variety of antelope.

Enjoy the game drives, boat and birding safaris.
