Camp Xakanaxa

Camp Xakanaxa

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

One of the first of its kind Camp Xakanaxa is a classic Delta safari lodge that has been offering the original paired-down authentic safari experience long before the luxury set moved in with their air conditioning units and daily foie gras runs.

Accommodation is in huge tented rooms built on elevated wooden decks with a large front patio that faces the Xakanaxa Lagoon. A delightfully romantic and semi-open en suite bathroom at the back has flushing toilets and plenty of hot running water.

The living area is homely and comfortable thatched gazebo of giant proportions also built on an elevated deck and littered with couches, armchairs and rugs. A deck extends out over the water with Morris chairs and a large firepit around which you will spend magical nights - guaranteed.

Like all Desert & Delta camps, the staff at Xakanaxa Camp are what truly sets this place apart making it one of our most cherished of all Delta safari lodges. Most have been in service since the lodge opened its doors in 1982 and your personal game guide is nothing short of a saint, a very knowledgeable saint at that.

Track big game and plains game in open 4WD safari vehicles, cruise the delta in special motorboats and glide in silence through the shallows with traditional dug-out canoes called mokoro. Wildlife, birdlife and plants are all in league to provide you with an exceptional all-round wilderness experience. Birdlife and wildlife in the Okavango Delta have it easy and have multiplied and diversified to their full including elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, hyena, giraffe, hippo, wildebeest, kudu, lechwe to name a few.
