The main living area is built in and around a grove of giant ebony trees and the tented rooms flank the lodge on both sides suspended on stilts along the water's edge. The chalets - simple, comfortable, rustic - have private bathrooms on the same platform, slightly apart from the bedrooms and private balconies overlooking Xakanaka Lagoon (pronounced KA-ka-na-ka) and the Okavango Delta beyond.
Service, food, ambience and an exceptional game viewing experience make Camp Moremi one of the regions best lodges, competing well with the higher-priced, spruced-up versions nearby.
Game drives on the plains; water safaris in the delta; birdwatching.
Game viewing activities include guided game drives in the floodplains and woodland savanna habitats around the water; and water safaris on special delta boats that skim along the shallow water around islands, through lagoons, channels and rivers.
Wildlife spans the gamut of Okavango Delta species including lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, elephant and plains species from the fascinating red lechwe to the serene giraffe. Birdlife is abundant and there is an action-packed heron village on an island near Camp Moremi. But even if you didn't see a single wild animal, the magical setting, tranquil wilderness and scenic delta would suffice for an amazing Botswana delta safari experience.
