The three granite suites located within the private, family-run Londolozi Reserve are stone cold winners if you are looking for luxury, lions, leopards and the rest of the Big 5.
You can book a suite here in the heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve which borders the Kruger National Park just for yourselves or reserve all three for a private camp for up to six (minimum age is 16 unless you book all suites). Either way, with only ever a maximum of 6 guests on site, plus the team members looking after you, this is the place to book for privacy and exclusivity.
Elephant herds are regular visitors to these parts, with hippo, buffalo, baboon, mongoose and too many different species of bird to list here also spotted by guests recently. It all makes this the kind of place you’ll want your phone at the ready to capture those magical moments when the natural world comes so close you can almost touch it.
The suites – which give you 85 square metres of space to enjoy and are spaced a generous 15 metres apart - get their name and inspiration from the granite rocks that shape the area. Another natural feature that dominates the region and inspires the design and location of the resort is the Sand River, above which are suspended a communal bar and cocktail lounge from which you can view the wildlife with a glass of something bubbly in hand.
Rumour has it that feng shui experts have been at work on the interiors of the trio of suites which all feel at one with their surroundings. This was surely the intention of the design team who’ve gone all out to lay on accommodation in which you’ll feel at home and relaxed whether you’re in your bedroom or lounge area inside, or outside in your private heated plunge pool.
There are showers inside and out, plus an outdoor river view bath, and all suites open directly onto the banks of the Sand River, with doors and windows larger than normal so you can take in the view.
Ridiculously comfortable sofas and armchairs are to be found in the communal lodge where books adorn the coffee tables adding to the homely feel. And you’re never far from a swimming pool when you stay here.
Your table awaits in the dining area and outdoor boma where you can enjoy meals and afternoon tea after you’ve worked up a hunger and thirst on a game drive. Expeditions leave the resort each morning and afternoon, with guided safari, nature and village walks also available, as well as the option to travel to the nearby Founder’s Camp for a yoga class and to use more communal facilities including a spa, fitness centre, photographic studio and kids’ club.
The Londolozi family of safari camps is a world-renowned collection in South Africa’s iconic Sabi Sand Reserve, offering a uniquely luxurious and authentic African safari experience:
