Established in 1926 as part of Sabi Sand Reserve in Kruger National Park, Londolozi Private Game Reserve has been owned and operated by the Varty family for a century. A pioneer of the ‘luxury eco-lodge’ concept, the reserve offers 5 lodges, and is renowned as one of the best places on the continent to see leopards in the wild.
Shaded by trees overlooking the Sand River, Founders Camp is built from timber, thatch and canvas, and has a classic safari feel. Built around a main dining and lounge area and bar, you’ll find plenty of space from where to watch the wildlife action at the river. If it gets too hot, cool off in the pool, which is connected to a game viewing deck by a wooden walkway, or find shade on the yoga deck – dramatically suspended in the branches of an ebony tree.
Meals are a real experience, enjoyed outside on the dining deck, around the campfire in the traditional boma, or in the main thatched dining room. In-between game drives, retreat to the reserve’s world-class wellbeing hub, The Healing House.
Leading off on either side, you’ll find 10 riverside chalets, with private views from an outdoor deck, as well as a plunge pool, outdoor showers, and a covered sala. Some chalets are slightly larger to accommodate families, featuring a lounge with fireplace and enough space to accommodate two children. Founders Camp excels in family safaris, and also offers a supervised Cubs Den programme for children.
The Londolozi family of safari camps is a world-renowned collection in South Africa’s iconic Sabi Sand Reserve, offering a uniquely luxurious and authentic African safari experience:
You’re highly likely to spot leopards, as well as other predators, on your morning and afternoon game drives in an open 4x4 safari vehicle – with over 16,000 hectares of traversing wilderness, no two game drives are ever the same. The reserve also offers guided nature walks, birdwatching, stargazing, photographic safaris, and Shangaan cultural excursions, as well as special activities for little explorers.
