Kateka Lodge sits within Limpopo’s Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem, where low vehicle density and varied terrain create a safari experience defined by stillness and space. The reserve shares unfenced borders with Kruger National Park and Timbavati, allowing wildlife to move freely – from elephant herds and resident lion prides to wild dog, leopard, and abundant birdlife.
Overlooking a natural watering hole, the lodge’s contemporary design and floor-to-ceiling windows let nature in, with a natural flow from the inside dining area onto a panoramic pool deck.
Each of the suites – whether a Classic, Deluxe or the exclusive-use Private Villa – has its own plunge pool and deck for uninterrupted wildlife viewing, while interiors combine modern technology with natural materials. Classic Suites also feature a spiral staircase leading to a scenic private rooftop terrace, while Deluxe Suites boast a freestanding outdoor bathtub. The Private Villa sleeps up to 6, and comes complete with a private chef, butler and dedicated guide.
A stay here is all about a deeply restorative safari experience that combines wildlife viewing with holistic treatments. Based on 5 different pillars, the wellness menu offers signature spa journeys and personalised nutrition plans. You’ll also find extensive wellness facilities, including an ice plunge pool, F45 gym, hydrotherapy pool, and infrared Himalayan sauna, plus activities that promote wellbeing, such as self-guided art therapy, meditation, and Mandala beading classes.
Mornings might begin with rooftop Yin yoga as the sun lifts over the bushveld, followed by an early game drive. The heat of the day invite quiet hours by the pool or in the wellness centre, and in the evening, guests gather around the firelit boma or at candlelit tables on the rooftop terrace, the night alive with distant lion calls.
Villa facilities:
Apart from the comprehensive wellness offering, guest can set off on exhilarating morning and evening game drives, guided bush walks, or scenic helicopter flights over cascading waterfalls in the Blyde River Canyon. Come nightfall, enjoy immersive stargazing on the lodge’s rooftop terrace, connecting you further to nature and your mesmerising surroundings.
