An exclusive-use villa ideal for shared family adventures.

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Located within the Thornybush Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park, and forming part of Thornybush Game Lodge, Kamara House is an exclusive-use safari villa designed for multigenerational families or small groups seeking a classic safari experience with the privacy of a standalone home. Overlooking the Monwana dry river bed, the villa enjoys frequent visits from passing game, creating armchair-safari moments from the deck and rim-flow plunge pool.

Accommodating up to 4 adults and 2 children, the villa is supported by a dedicated team including a butler and a personal guide and tracker with a private game-viewing vehicle. Meals are prepared by your personal chef, and served alfresco-style outside or in the spacious dining area.

The interiors are contemporary yet warm, using natural textures and earthy tones that echo the surrounding bush and showcase traditional African touches. Two thatched ensuite bedrooms connect to the main living area, with one room featuring an interleading children’s bedroom so younger guests are never far away from their parents. The fourth bedroom is the Bush Suite, which can be added upon request. Bathrooms include generous bathtubs framed by large windows for views onto the surrounding bush, and indoor and outdoor showers – the latter for open-air rinses beneath the stars.

The open-plan living and dining areas flow onto a spacious deck, ideal for relaxed meals, afternoon downtime, or stargazing in the evenings as distant lion calls carry through the reserve. A walkway leads to a traditional boma – perfect for post-drive stories told around a crackling fire. Guests also have access to the nearby Thornybush Game Lodge Wellness Centre for spa treatments or a change of scenery between activities.
