This is a birder’s paradise with over 450 species of birds found in the area and a chance to see a commotion of crimson breasts, when the Carmine Bee Eaters settle in between August and December each year. A marvel to experience.
“Mubala” in Silozi means colour and this lodge certainly adds something unusual in its use. Teal, olive, sea greens with crisp white, natural woods and hints of gold in the smallest details to tie it all together. You could easily see yourself walking out of your bungalow and onto a white beach with crystal waves, a somewhat ocean like feel, yet there ahead of you, a view out onto the river and bush. It just works.
On the water’s edge, linked by raised wooden walkways the stylish design is complimented by African accents and that something ‘different’, for which most Gondwana properties are well known. It’s classy and sophisticated without boasting luxury. What you see is what you get, plus some.
Besides the numerous bird species, elephant, buffalo, hippo and crocs are a sure see. You could also catch a glimpse of lion, zebra, giraffe, sitatunga, red lechwe, puku, spotted-necked otters, waterbuck, oribi and wild dog. Just keep your eyes peeled.
