Chobe River Camp

Chobe River Camp

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

It's always fun to pay a fraction of the price for the same only better. And that's Chobe River Camp for you: the same awesome river frontage, great game viewing and no crowds. All for less than what you'd pay across the river in Botswana's Chobe National Park.

The lodge is simple, comfortable and known for friendly and personal service. What more could you want? Wildlife? Yes, in abundance. The area is well known for its birds, with about 500 different species on record. Elephant live here all year round clearing the way for a variety of plains game including waterbuck, zebra, sable, roan, red lechwe and buffalo. Lion, hyena, crocodiles, hippo and wild dog add to the excitement factor especially in the drier months.

You will find Chobe River Camp about 4 km from the Ngoma border post between Namibia and Botswana, in the Eastern Caprivi on the Namibian side. This lodge is on the banks of the Chobe River, opposite the Chobe National Park on the Katima Mulilo side. There is something to see no matter what season you decide to visit – whether it is the permanent waterways dotted with sections of dry land, to rivers bursting with flood waters during the rainy season, as well as both seasonal and permanent swamp areas.

The main building of Chobe River Camp is right on the edge of the Chobe River and has a raised deck to watch the African wildlife in its natural habitat, plus there are a few private lounge decks. When it comes to meals you can choose between the interactive, open kitchen where you can watch the chefs do their thing, go for the smarter dining room option where you will have the opportunity to indulge in some traditional African cuisine, or if you want something a bit more informal you can enjoy your meal under the stars next to the open fire pit.

Enjoy the solitude of the African bush by staying in one of Chobe River Camp's 20 elevated, tented eco chalets. The tented chalets are made of canvas and the rest of the fittings are made from Mopani wood, which is indigenous to the area. All the tented chalets are quite light and airy and have great views of the Chobe River channels, their own deck with deck chairs and an indoor en-suite bathroom with a hot shower and flushing toilet.

Chobe River Camp also has a camping site that has been carefully positioned on the waters edge with self-catering facilities, shared ablutions and large trees to provide shade from the hot African sun.
