Remote wilderness, exceptional wildlife and a serious amount of elephant.
If you love elephants, this is the trip for you. Over 12 days you’ll see them in completely different landscapes – from desert-adapted elephants in the remote Hoanib Valley to Etosha elephants around the waterholes, Caprivi elephants moving through the greener floodplains of the Zambezi Region and, finally, the famous herds of Chobe.
Along the way, the scenery changes just as dramatically. You’ll move from the dry, rugged north-west of Namibia to Etosha’s open plains, then into the riverine landscapes of the Caprivi before crossing into Botswana and Zimbabwe.
The journey combines Omaanda, Hoanib Valley Camp, Onguma Camp Kala, Nambwa Tented Lodge, Chobe Game Lodge and Victoria Falls River Lodge, with charter flights and private transfers keeping everything smooth. It’s a wonderfully varied safari, and one where elephants seem to follow you almost the entire way.

Day 1: Windhoek
(1 night)
On arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to Omaanda, set in a private reserve just outside Windhoek. This is a wonderful gentle way to begin the trip, giving you time to settle in after your international journey rather than heading straight back into the air. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and easing into safari mode.
Accommodation:
Omaanda
Days 2 & 3: Hoanib Valley
(2 nights)
After breakfast on Day 2, transfer back to Hosea Kutako International Airport for your flight north, routing via Twyfelfontein before continuing to Orutjandja Airstrip. From here, you’ll be transferred to Hoanib Valley Camp, tucked into one of Namibia’s most remote and dramatic wilderness areas. Your time here is spent exploring rugged mountains, dry riverbeds and wide-open valleys in search of desert-adapted wildlife. Elephants are one of the major highlights, but you may also encounter giraffe, oryx and other animals specially adapted to this harsh environment. The scenery is every bit as memorable as the wildlife, and the sense of space and isolation makes this one of the most distinctive stops on the journey.
Accommodation:
Hoanib Valley Camp
Days 4 & 5: Onguma & Etosha
(2 nights)
On Day 4, transfer back to Orutjandja Airstrip and fly east to Onguma. You’ll be met at the airstrip and transferred to Onguma Camp Kala, an intimate camp overlooking its own waterhole on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park.
Your full day here is all about wildlife. Head out on game drives through Onguma and Etosha, looking for elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope and predators including lion. Etosha’s famous waterholes often provide excellent game viewing, while back at Camp Kala the wildlife can come to you, with regular visitors arriving at the waterhole in front of camp.
Accommodation:
Onguma Camp Kala
Days 6 & 7: Zambezi Region
(2 nights)
On Day 6, transfer to Onguma Airstrip and fly north-east via Rundu to Immelmann Airstrip. From there, you’ll be transferred to Nambwa Tented Lodge, set among the waterways and woodlands of Namibia’s Zambezi Region. This is a complete change of scenery. After the dry landscapes of Kunene and Etosha, you’ll find yourself surrounded by greener floodplains, river channels and abundant wildlife.
Your stay can include game drives and water-based activities, with good opportunities to see elephant, buffalo, hippo and an impressive variety of birdlife.
Accommodation:
Nambwa Tented Lodge
Days 8 & 9: Chobe National Park
(2 nights)
After breakfast on Day 8, you’ll travel by road to Kasane and continue across to Chobe Game Lodge, set inside Botswana’s Chobe National Park. Chobe is particularly famous for its elephants and for the Chobe River, which attracts huge concentrations of wildlife during the dry season. Your time here can be spent on both land and water, combining game drives with boat safaris along the river. Expect excellent opportunities to see elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, antelope and a wide range of birdlife, with predators never far away.
Accommodation:
Chobe Game Lodge
Days 10 & 11: Victoria Falls
(2 nights)
On Day 10, check out and transfer across the border into Zimbabwe, continuing to Victoria Falls River Lodge. Set on the banks of the Zambezi River, the lodge offers a peaceful safari setting while still giving you easy access to Victoria Falls itself.
During your stay, make time to visit the Falls and walk through the rainforest viewpoints, where you can experience the scale and power of one of Africa’s most famous natural landmarks. There are also plenty of optional activities, from sunset cruises and helicopter flights to more adventurous options for those wanting to add a little adrenaline to the end of the trip. Back at the lodge, you can enjoy the river, wildlife and a final couple of relaxed safari evenings.
Accommodation:
Victoria Falls River Lodge
Day 12: Departure
After breakfast, check out of Victoria Falls River Lodge and transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward flight. Your journey ends after 12 days travelling from Namibia’s remote north-west to Etosha, the waterways of the Zambezi Region, Chobe National Park and finally Victoria Falls – a wonderfully varied safari through three countries.
