A much praised architecturally superior camp in lion and leopard country.

If you’re into architecture, you’ll likely recognise the names of the people behind this camp. We won’t namecheck them here, suffice to say that their work has met with much praise from those in the know and plenty of positive reviews from those who’ve stayed here.
If it’s your time to experience Chinzombo, you’re in for a treat, staying in a camp based in 24 hectares of land bordering the Luangwa River. The contemporary design is all about minimalism in terms of furnishings and its impact of the local landscape. And everything is geared toward offering you a truly luxurious experience
The accommodation here comes in the form of luxury safari tents of which there are 6, one of which is designated a family tent with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms
They’re all fashioned from canvas, timber, reed, leather and steel, with verandas offering sun traps and shady spots as you prefer and a tub in which you can relax in and watch the wildlife by the river.
Suites are configured either with a double bed or twin beds. The bathrooms are big and offer the kinds of views you won’t get from your tub back home.
A winding walkway will take you from your tent to the main area of camp where there’s plenty to attract you and keep you entertained. Among these is a sundeck overlooking the river, an open air library, a swimming pool, a bar, dining room and elevated firepit area with seating. Breakfast, high tea and dinner are all served in camp, with the last meal of the day given a romantic twist thanks to candles on the tables.
The camp’s designers took their desire to work with nature to the extreme by erecting the canvas lounge tent around a couple of trees whose branches stretch through the roof and spill out of the open sides of the space that features a variety of seating and tables.
The guides at camp have impeccable pedigree when it comes to knowing the local area and animal movements within it. You get to explore it under their expert guidance in a 4 by 4, aboard a boat, or on foot. Take your pick. It’s likely you’ll want to experience all three.
Your ultimate goal will surely be to catch a glimpse of or just stare in awe at the showpiece wildlife – namely leopard, lion, elephant, hyena, giraffe, zebra, hippo and more bird species than anyone can accurately count.
