Simbavati Homestead

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Hidden in a quiet corner of the Klaserie, Simbavati Homestead is a modern African farmhouse designed for families or friends to enjoy a private safari. Booked on a self-catering basis, it offers the warmth and familiarity of a holiday home, paired with the adventure and expertise of a traditional lodge. A private guide and vehicle mean that the safari unfolds entirely at your pace.

The Homestead features 5 spacious suites and generous living spaces that flow out onto wide verandas and terraces. Mornings might begin with coffee in the boma overlooking the watering hole, and post-game drive daytime drifts into lazy hours in the pool, reading in the shade, or a spa treatment at the neighbouring Simbavati Camp George. If required, the team can assist in stocking the pantry and bar before arrival, so that you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Game drives take place at first light and again in the late afternoon, when the bush becomes alive again after the midday heat. The Klaserie’s 60,000 hectares form part of the greater Kruger, with unfenced borders that allow wildlife to roam freely. With a limited number of lodges in the reserve, sightings feel intimate and unhurried – from elephants meandering through riverine forests to the possibility of spotting endangered species such as wild dog.

Evenings are relaxed and easy-going – meals cooked and shared at your leisure, perhaps around the boma fire beneath a canopy of stars.

Activities

Days at the Homestead follow the rhythm of the bush, with early-morning and late-afternoon game drives when wildlife is most active. Back at the lodge, evenings are at leisure, during which you can prepare your own dinner and enjoy it around the boma or campfire. On clear nights, your guide can arrange a stargazing session, revealing sparkling southern constellations.
