Tucked away in the 200,000-hectare Khwai Private Reserve, Little Sable by Natural Selection is a relaxed yet stylish safari camp in one of the Okavango’s most game-rich regions. Bordering Moremi Game Reserve to the south and the Savuti region of Chobe National Park to the north, the camp enjoys a prime position amid vast floodplains, winding waterways and forested islands – classic Okavango Delta scenery at its finest.
The little sister to Sable Alley, Little Sable offers an authentic safari experience with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent value. With just 8 traditional canvas tents – including 2 family rooms – the camp remains intimate and personal. Raised on wooden platforms, each tent features an ensuite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, and a private deck overlooking shimmering floodplains.
The main area combines old-world safari charm with African-inspired creativity. Under thatch, guests will find a bright lounge, dining space and bar flowing onto an extended outdoor deck and pool. A large sunken lounge and firepit sit at the heart of the camp – the perfect spot for morning coffee or scenic sundowners.
With very few vehicles around, game viewing here is exceptional. From lechwe, hippo and crocodile in the wetlands to big cats along the treelines, Khwai supports a remarkable diversity of species. Seasonal starbed sleep-outs and an underground hide further add to the wildlife thrills.
Between April and late October, guests can prebook a sleepout under the stars at Skybeds – ideally combined with a visit to a secret underground hide.
Morning, afternoon, and night drives reveal the rich wildlife of the Khwai Private Reserve, while seasonal mokoro excursions and boating safaris (water levels permitting) explore its winding channels at water level. Scenic helicopter flights provide an aerial view of the Okavango Delta, and keen anglers can enjoy catch-and-release fishing from March to December. For a deeper conservation connection, the KPR Ranger Experience offers the chance to track predators, assist with data collection and learn more about ongoing wildlife protection initiatives.
