In the north eastern region of the Okavango Delta, adjacent to the famed Moremi Game Reserve and the Chobe National Park, it makes perfect sense that this private reserve is host to a confluence of game. Lion, leopard, wild dog, buffalo and elephant and don’t forget the hippos, right there in the lagoon in front of the lodge. Take a splash in the pool while the elephants come to do the same (in the lagoon that is) although you’re that close, it’s not unlikely they could join you in the pool. Enjoy a sundowner from the deck as the antelope come for a drink too. Why not? The setting is sublime.
You could easily hang at the lodge all day and watch the animals come and go, but in an area as unspoiled as this, you simply have to take it all in. Quite the feat, we know, when taking into account the size of the reserve, yet even seeing part of it will leave you lost for words. It’s spectacular. From woodlands and riverine forests to open plains and winding channels, the landscape is equally as magical as the game sightings are phenomenal. You could even see up to 50 species on a single drive. We’re not making this up.
The lodge itself offers an African essence beneath the rustic thatch. It’s sophisticated, restrained and elegant in its simplicity. Add the extra comforts to make it homely. Welcome romance with views out onto the bush. This is safari living in style. Your tent (one of only 12) is spacious (55 square metres big), slide the screen doors open to your private veranda and lagoon view. Pinch yourself, this is real.
Sustainable, your stay also contributes directly to the Khwai Village Community. As if you needed another reason to pick Sable Alley for your Okavango Delta experience. Everything about this place is special and you’ll me made to feel that way as a guest too.
Inside this ginormous private concession, you’re in for a real treat. Morning, afternoon and evening game drives. Motorboat and mokoro excursions (water level dependant), guided bush walks and viewing hides.
Game drives are in open safari vehicles with no more than seven people per vehicle and there will never be more than three vehicles at a sighting either. An exclusive safari experience is guaranteed.
