“We had an absolutely amazing trip. I have nothing but positives for our whole experience.”
This three-week family self-drive adventure through Namibia was carefully crafted to accommodate two adults, two grown children and one young grandson - prioritising properties that could comfortably host the family together wherever possible. Travelling in a 6/7-seater automatic safari vehicle that proved completely reliable throughout, the journey flowed from the red dunes of the Kalahari to the dramatic Fish River Canyon, the coastal charm of Lüderitz and Swakopmund, and on through the desert landscapes of Spitzkoppe and Damaraland before reaching the wildlife-rich reserves of Palmwag and Etosha.
Standout stays included the unforgettable Timbila Farmstead - described as an absolute must - where warm hospitality and a true Namibian farm experience left a lasting impression. Alte Villa, Madisa Tented Camp and the towering dunes of the Namib Desert were also firm favourites. Wildlife sightings were abundant throughout the journey, not only in Etosha but along the roads themselves, with rhino, elephant, giraffe and ostrich encountered in unexpected places.
While some gravel road days were long, driving at a relaxed pace ensured a smooth experience. The vehicle’s navigation system worked flawlessly, making even remote stretches stress-free.
