You can’t get closer to the waves without actually getting wet. That’s the beauty of the location of The Pearls, which are upscale air conditioned beachside pods or coastal villas - depending on the description you like best.

They offer you the opportunity to enjoy uninterrupted sea views with direct access to the beach. Like pearls, they are rare – numbering just 2. One has 3 bedrooms and offers views of the jetty stretching out into the Atlantic, the other is 2 bedroom accommodation with views of the Mole – a sea wall dating back to the turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries.

Both beach and town nearby

Whichever pod is yours, you’ll be feeling the sand between your toes just a few steps from your front door. A morning or late evening barefoot stroll along the beach anyone?  

It’s only a little further to Swakopmund town centre, so you’ve easy access to local attractions such as art galleries and the museum, as well as shops and eateries too. The area is home to a mix of German and Namibian influences and residents, which is reflected in the wonderful architecture.

Activities

You won’t be surprised to learn that many activities on offer in the area are water or beach based. So you’re likely to see sandboarders, skydivers and quad bikers, plus those seeking more relaxing past-times on fishing trips and dolphin-spotting cruises.

Three levels of luxury

Designed for 2 to 6 guests, each pod has three floors. The ground floor is where you’ll park your car if you’re driving here – there’s a remote control double garage to keep it safe and out of the sun.

Enter the house and you’ve an open plan living space with comfy seating, a selection of books and a TV. But it’s likely to be the view of the ocean through the large windows that attracts your attention the most when you first arrive, and indeed throughout your stay, as you’re unlikely to ever tire of marvelling at the impressive Atlantic.

The kitchen has many attractions too, with an array of appliances and plenty of countertop space to help you prepare and enjoy snacks and meals. You’ll choose the food and drink you want when you book, and it’ll all be waiting here in the refrigerator and cupboards when you arrive. You can choose to eat at the central dining table or elsewhere, perhaps out on the balcony which is reached by heading up the stairs to the first floor.

That’s where you’ll find the bedrooms, each with ensuites featuring walk-in showers. There’s a second living area up here too, again with ocean views, but also with access to that balcony we’ve already mentioned.

The top floor is your entertainment area, with a large private terrace joined by a stocked bar, hot tub, portable gas barbecue and yet more outstanding sea views. You might be lucky enough to see dolphins and seals at play in the waters. If not, the sunrises, sunsets and splashing waves are all spectacles well worth watching.

Wherever you sit to relax and enjoy the views, you’ll have unlimited Wi-Fi so you can instantly send shots and messages back home to friends and family. Try not to make them feel too jealous.

A dedicated member of The Pearls team will be available to provide you with information about local amenities and to make restaurant reservations. You can also get them to book activities, handle your laundry and arrange any transport you need, but this costs extra.

Children welcome

Both pods are family friendly and you’re sure to want to bring or a bucket and spade to build sandcastles on the beach. 5s and unders stay free, while 6 to 13 year olds are charged at half price.
