Singita Sweni Lodge

Singita Sweni Lodge

Kruger National Park
5 stars

Hidden in a remote riverine forest on the banks of the Sweni River, this intimate property feels more like a sanctuary than a traditional safari lodge.

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Situated on 33,000 acres in the southeastern reaches of the Kruger National Park, right on South Africa’s border with Mozambique, Singita’s concession enables a unique wildlife population to thrive across four distinct ecological zones. The area is renowned for its remarkable concentration of  wildlife, including four formidable prides of lions, with unforgettable birding and game-viewing experiences par for the course.

Concealed by large trees, a stay at Sweni allows guests to watch animals drinking from and cooling off in the Sweni River, just below the lodge and main pool. Intimate by design, Sweni features only 7 glass-ensconced suites – including a secluded Pool Suite with a shaded riverfront deck that can also be connected to the adjacent suite to create an expansive private space for families. The striking interiors offer a bold new African context for contemporary design, carefully balancing modern touches and bright nature-inspired colours with natural textures such as bronze, wood, and stone. Elevated walkways and floor-to-ceiling glass immerse guests in the natural surroundings.

A stay here also offers a wholesome food journey, with a focus on sustainable, seasonal flavours. Days begin with the soft call of birdsong and coffee on your deck as the sun rises over the river before you set off on your first game drive. Daytime unfolds slowly – a leisurely breakfast, a multi-sensory spa treatment, mindful yoga session, or a nap. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on the second drive of the day, with sundowners in the bush a highlight before dinner back at the lodge, or a nightcap at the marble bar. At night, sink into soft pillows in your suite, underneath twinkling stars and surrounded by the resident wildlife.
