Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Recently updated to reflect its evolvement, Singita’s founding lodge offers a fresh and modern interpretation of the classic safari.

Set on the banks of the Sand River in the private Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, Ebony Lodge offers guests access to an incredible wildlife sanctuary – renowned for its high concentration of wildlife and frequent leopard sightings.

Recently re-envisioned, Ebony remains rooted in a deep reverence for nature, but has been opened up to create a greater sense of flow – with suspended wooden walkways and shaded decks observing the ebb and flow of life along the Sand River. While the curved lines inspired by the Adobe architecture of North and West Africa are still at the heart of the lodge, the addition of lightweight canvas and timber offers a modern take on the classic look and feel, with local African art paying tribute to the continent’s creativity.

The Conservation Room, a consciously curated space showcasing fascinating artefacts, is the lodge’s centrepiece. From there, you’ll make your way to one of 12 suites, created for both couples and families. Each suite comes with its own private plunge pool and outdoor deck that seem to float above the riverbanks. Interiors showcase a mix of original Ebony heirlooms and contemporary African art – with saturated hues and textures taking cues from the lodge’s natural surroundings. Walls of canvas and glass create tent-style suites that allow light to flood in.

A feast for all senses, the lodge’s holistic food philosophy means that guests are treated to fresh farm-to-table cuisine with an African influence. Singita is also recognised as one of Africa’s most influential collectors of wine, with an extensive cellar and personalised wine tastings a highlight of a stay here.
