If you know that the airport is actually 40km from Windhoek and that Ondekaremba is a vast swathe of African bush you will appreciate the convenience of your first and last taste of Africa.
Accommodation is in functional en suite chalets with tiled floors, ceiling fans, pine beds and a private view of the surrounding bush. The main lodge has a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. Internet access out in the bush is a bit hit and miss so don't bank on it.
Ondekaremba game reserve is 6,000 hectares - that's 60 sq km - of pure Africa. While the farm is stocked with a variety of plains game including kudu, orys, hartebeest and little duiker and steenbok, the point of being here is more to enjoy the African bush than a wildlife safari: you would have to walk for hours in any direction to encounter any other sign of life and the tranquility and unspoilt beauty of Africa is all you need after a long flight or as one last hit before you depart.
Guest farms in Namibia excel at the traditional meat-fest and Ondekaremba is no exception. The bar carries all the essentials and is well-priced. Staff are friendly and helpful and the day lounge is an excellent option for those late flights or early morning arrivals.
Game drives; bush walks; birding featuring vultures and over 100 species; Windhoek city tours and excursions
