As a stopover, Nata Lodge will be in your sights if you're driving south from Chobe and Victoria Falls en route to the Makgadikgadi Pans, the Okavango Delta and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve beyond that. Nata is about four hours' drive from Kasane and it may seem a long detour on the map but you've got to circumvent the colossal Chobe National Park and skirt the Makgadikgadi.
Accommodation options include a comfortable thatched chalet with en suite bathrooms, an outdoor shower and air conditioning; tented suites, also built on wooden platforms but without the air con; and a well-kept campsite.
On the edge of the Pans and a short drive from the Nata bird sanctuary, Nata Lodge offers unique activites including a three-hour birding excursion to the sanctuary where you'll see many of the 160+ birds including eagles, kingfishers, pelicans, flamingoes, ostriches and more. Smaller mammals dot around the fringes of this seasonal pan making this extra activity well worth the time.
From Nata Lodge travelling west you will pass the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park on your left, greater Chobe on your right and the Okavango Delta lies straight ahead.
Birding in the Nata sanctuary, go meet the locals of Nata on a village tour or enjoy breakfast beneath the baobabs on the salt pans. Take a walk across Nata Lodge or paddle in the Nata River. There's plenty to do and enough to choose from, if relaxing and taking in the setting in itself isn't enough to keep you busy all day.
