As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Meno a Kwena Tented Camp is a rustic safari camp on the edge of the Boteti River overlooking the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park in Botswana.

Accommodation is in simple safari tents crammed with old world safari explorers' relics. Each tent has a huge a marquee extending your private space to an open-sided lounge area in the front - looking down to the river - and a rustic bush bathroom in back.

The bathrooms have flushing toilets and hot water bucket showers making the leap from roughing it in the bush to roughing it in the bush with the essential luxuries thrown in.

The main living area is similarly Bohemian with yet more intrepid explorers' goodies in use and on display from the antique packing cases as occasional tables and gnarly home-made Morris chairs. The soft Kalahari sand at night dotted with flaming torches and pebbled by the moon is a special place to enjoy your after-dinner reflection beside the campfire. Most of your meals are cooked over an open fire for yet more of an authentic safari experience. Expect large portions of fresh produce, simply prepared and wholesome. A never-ending supply of cold drinks is an essential out here in the blazing heat and in this department Meno a Kwena Camp provides.

Activities

Meno a Kwena Tented Camp is on the edge of the Boteti River - dry for 20 years, it flowed again in 2009, creating a wildlife frenzy around the lodge.

But whether the river flows or not, the Boteti River throws up occasional pools which are the only source of water for miles around in the winter time. Meno a Kwena Camp sits on a 100-foot cliff above the river and down below is a marvel of wildlife diversity.

Huge migrations of zebra and wildebeest, second only to the Serengeti Migration, pass directly below you; rhino, hippo, elephants, lions, hyena and a host of antelope visit the river below Meno a Kwena Camp daily.

Activities at Meno a Kwena Tented Safari Camp include game drives into the Kalahari, Makgadikgadi Pans and Nxai Pans National Parks; guided walks; village visits
