Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

In the community-run Khwai Concession on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, Khwai Leadwood – part of African Bush Camps – is an intimate camp of just 5 luxury tented suites, 1 honeymoon suite, and 1 family suite. Shaded by a canopy of trees, the Khwai River is all that separates the camp from the Moremi Game Reserve, acting as a natural boundary between the renowned reserve and exclusive concession.

The main lodge blends effortlessly into its riverbank setting: a lounge of deep sofas and woven textures opens onto a spacious deck, where breakfast might be accompanied by the sight of elephants crossing the Khwai River into the reserve.

Raised wooden walkways connect the central area to each tented suite, ensuring privacy while keeping you close to the sights and sounds of the bush. From your tent’s private deck, views spill out over the water, with hippos wallowing below and fish eagles calling overhead. The design is contemporary yet warm – solar-powered canvas-and-timber structures feature thoughtful touches that reflect local craft, creating a sense of being woven gently into the landscape.

During the day, guests can enjoy twice-daily game drives as well as guided walking safaris to explore the game-rich concession. Water levels permitting, mokoro safaris aboard a dugout canoe offer a different perspective. Come evening, tell your fellow travellers about the day’s adventures around the boma, before dinner under a starlit sky.

Activities

Morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, guided walking safaris and seasonal mokoro excursions (for guests aged 16 and over) open windows into the Okavango’s wildlife canvas – lions, cheetah, wild dogs, elephants, buffalo and prolific birdlife move freely across the river into Moremi. Cultural visits offer connection to the local Khwai community, while optional scenic helicopter flights add a lofty perspective. Keeping young explorers busy and entertained, the Ngwana Club has exciting activities for children of all ages.
