Jackalberry Tented Camp

Jackalberry Tented Camp

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Built around a huge jackalberry tree, the three-tiered treehouse-like main area houses the reception, dining deck and bar; a lounge with sweeping views across the floodplains and mopani forests; and a boma on the ground floor – an atmospheric setting for wildlife stories told over a roaring fire, G&T in hand, while you gaze up at the starlit sky.

Leading off the main area, you’ll find four solar-powered canvas tents, sitting at an elevated angle just across the Linyanti River from Botswana. Each features spacious canvas-covered decks and simple but well-equipped facilities. With no fence in sight, animals can roam freely, putting you in the heart of the wildlife action – with elephants known to come and nibble on the big trees surrounding the camp.

Activities

During rainy season, Nkasa Rupara turns into Namibia’s equivalent of the Okavango Delta – resulting in mesmerising wildlife encounters. Forested islands are home to some of the country’s most spectacular birdlife, with more than 430 recorded species waiting to be spotted. Early morning and late afternoon game drives let you explore this wonderfully remote part of the country, while night drives offer the opportunity to catch predators on the prowl. For up-close encounters with hippos and crocs, try a boat cruise on the Linyanti.
