Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge

Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Well off the beaten track, getting to Nkasa Lodge is the start of your African safari adventure. At the end of a 13km 4x4-only road through dense riverine bush and across two steel bridges, the remoteness of this eco-camp grows ever more palpable as you stretch the gap between civilisation and untouched, unspoilt, unbelievably beautiful Africa.

Complimenting its pristine location, Nkasa Lupala keeps things intimate and natural with just 10 permanent tents under the trees on enormous wooden decks featuring wrap-around balconies, glass sliding door entrances and solar-heated en suite bathrooms. We'd love to tell you about the delightful open-air free-standing tubs but will leave that as a surprise. Oops!

Staying intimate, the main lodge features single-table dining overlooking the sky- reflected river and it too is elevated on stilts beneath an elegant thatched dome. Gaze at millions of stars - and thank your lucky ones - from around the campfire, also on the deck, as hippos and elephants splash in the river at your feet.

The Kwando-Linyanti river system is part of a vast savannah floodplain that forms the northern part of the Okavango Delta. The rainy season - from November to April - is especially good for birding and is also calving season for general plains game. The dry winter months from May to October are best for game-viewing safaris proper with elephant, buffalo, lion, giraffe, zebra and antelope congregating around the permanent channels of the Kwando-Linyanti.

Namibia is a world-leader in conservation and Nkasa Lupala Lodge is just one shining example of community-driven eco-tourism in action. A joint venture between the Wuparo Community Conservancy and an Italian family, Nkasa Lodge plays a vital role in helping the community conserve its own pristine wilderness.
