2022 saw this landmark hotel – originally a farmhouse dating from the 19th Century and located in a peaceful oasis close to Cape Town’s lively Kloof Street neighbourhood - benefit from an all-encompassing renovation.
The classic, listed façade of the building that enjoys national monument status remained untouched. But rooms were revitalised and the atmosphere of the place transformed, with local artisans helping bring colour (chiefly emerald green, black and white with flashes of gold) and contemporary elegance to the communal areas and each of the 19 individually designed and decorated rooms.
Each has a bed that can be arranged as a kingsize or twins. All the modern essentials are here for you, including satellite TV, air conditioning, a minibar, Wi-Fi and ensuite bathroom.
You have a private sun terrace to enjoy, plus an ensuite bathroom from which you can emerge wearing a hotel robe and set of slippers. A Nespresso coffee machine provides the in-room refreshment along with a minibar. At the end of your day of adventures, a kingsize bed (or twins) await.
The superlatives aptly reflect the level of luxury available in these rooms that feature a private lounge area leading out onto your furnished sun terrace. The ensuite features a bathtub and shower, while your TV gives you access to a whole host of satellite channels. Why not dip into the minibar while you watch?
Top billing has to go to the Upper Union restaurant within the hotel which is open to guests and others in the area. The seasonal menu that’s designed to be shared has earned the place an impressive reputation among locals and visitors from around the world, so you’re sure to want to book a table here at least once.
Elsewhere in the hotel, your relaxation needs are well catered for, with a spa, fitness centre and two pools plus a sunroom giving you places to be pampered and areas you can just sit and unwind.
There’s a 3-bed residence within the development that you can book for your exclusive use which has an open plan living area, a private swimming pool, and ensuite bathrooms in each of the bedrooms.
Overseeing everything will be your own butler who’ll be dotting the I’s and J’s and crossing the Ts and Fs, such will be their attention to detail. Part of the team will be a chef whose sole job will be to serve up delicious breakfasts for you.
You’ll also have access to the hotel’s facilities, including the spa and fitness centre, plus a 24-hour concierge.
At Cape Cadogan, guests can enjoy a range of activities both within the hotel and in the surrounding area. The hotel provides a relaxing environment with an outdoor pool and fitness centre. For those seeking adventure, Cape Cadogan is ideally located to explore Cape Town's attractions, including visits to the iconic Table Mountain, the vibrant neighbourhoods of Camps Bay and the V&A Waterfront, and scenic hiking trails. Guests can also experience local wine tasting, explore the city's rich history, or stroll through the nearby botanical gardens. The hotel's central location makes it perfect for discovering the best of Cape Town.
