Tawana Lodge

Tawana Lodge

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Opened in May 2024, Natural Selection’s new-build camp boasts a spectacular location in the south-eastern sector of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve – known as one of the best land-based wildlife watching areas in Botswana. The lodge came to life in partnership with Chief Tawana Moremi, the paramount chief of the local Batawana tribe, to protect this fragile ecosystem for future generations and offer much-needed opportunities for his people.

Drawing inspiration from the organic tones of the landscape and traditional Batawana patterns, Tawana’s strikingly contemporary interiors comprise a lounge, bar, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and a library. The open-air design lets air flow through, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The camp also hosts traditional outdoor dining around a campfire in its kglota, or boma, as well as a lap-pool, walk-in wine cellar, wood-fired pizza oven, and in-room spa treatments.

Winding raised walkways lead to 8 expansive suites amid a lush riverine forest setting. Occupying 100-130sqm across three thatched areas, each suite features a separate lounge, private terrace, plunge pool and outdoor sala, with unobstructed views of the Gomoti River and game-rich floodplains.

Activities

Twice-daily game drives will take you through a lush tapestry of shimmering lagoons, shallow pans, mopane woodlands and grassy floodplains in search of lion, wild dogs, hippos, and crocs. Avid birders are also in their element here, with birding excursions introducing guests to some of the 400 species recorded in the Moremi. For a bird’s eye perspective, book a helicopter flight – soaring high above the waterways, you’ll gain a new perspective of the Moremi’s incredible landscape and wildlife. Back at the lodge, indulge in soothing body treatments and facials at the onsite spa.
