Where the rest of northern Botswana is a lush land of bounty, the Savuti Channel dried up many years ago, though it's showing signs of returning, and the Savuti area is now an open area of woodland savannah and the scene of some fierce competition and a spectacle of nature's survival-of-the-fittest show.
The Savute Elephant Lodge is as luxurious as its setting is wild. Overlooking the Savuti Channel in front of a waterhole, the wildlife spectacle unfolds at your feet. The 12 luxury safari tents have thatched roofs and large wooden decks with hammocks and Morris chairs overlooking the waterhole; double en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, mini bars and giant beds make your suite a comfortable and inviting Chobe Safari HQ.
The large living area at Savute Elephant Lodge, under shade of thatch, looks out over the channel offering cool daytime dining and lounging; an outdoor deck offers wonderful al fresco dinners and refreshing swimming all in view of the wildlife and birdlife action below. Game viewing in this wild area is restricted to game drives, though you may not need to leave the luxury of your safari lodge.
