In the style of a colonial-era mobile safari, Sango Safari Camp has cavernous tented suites on wooden decks with giant four-poster beds, open-air bucket showers and a private deck overlooking the Khwai River.
The main living area is a large tent with hardwood furniture, comfy leather sofas and Persian rugs. Dinner is a high table occasion under the stars by the light of a campfire and lamps dotted around trees.
With just six tents (12 guests max) your stay is guaranteed to be an intimate affair, both with your knowledgeable personal guide and the magnificent Botswana bush. Game drives into Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Concession are tailored to your desires. Activities, depending on the weather and time of year, include day and night game drives, bush walks and mokoro water safaris. The camp is unfenced, so you know the wildlife encounters are really close.
The wildlife and birdlife experience at Sango Safari Camp is nothing short of phenomenal. With a variety of habitats including permanent water, open grasslands, floodplains, riparian forest and ancient woodland the diversity and numbers are astounding. Lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, hyena, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and a great number of antelope and plains game roam this vast land freely and you will be amazed at the sightings your guide reveals as you traverse this wilderness area.
Day (morning and afternoon) game drives into Moremi and Khwai, with night drives on the private Khwai Concession too. If you're older than 16 go on a specialist-led walking safari or do a mokoro water safari, possible year-round (no under 12's). You can also do a village walk and visit the local preschool in the Khwai area. This easily fits in as an additional activity during "siesta" time so you won't be compromising on the game drives and other safari activities.
All game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles with a minimum age of six for shared vehicles.
You can book this camp on a fully inclusive basis to include all your activities and park fees or book it to include only your meals and head off in your own vehicle on a self-drive, paying your park fees at the gate (cash only). It's possible to explore the Moremi Game Reserve and the private Khwai Concession with a lodge guide or on your own.
There's also a viewing hide that is well worth just sitting, watching and waiting. This is a great spot for any special occasion meals.
