North Island Okavango

North Island Okavango

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Tucked away on a private island, surrounded by floodplains and grasslands, shimmering lagoons and palm-strewn islands, North Island offers an intimate Okavango experience. Brought to life in collaboration with local partners Nakwa and the Magobagoba Youth Trust, wildlife thrives between the wetlands, open savannah, and woodlands.

Featuring contemporary, African-inspired interiors, each of the 4 spacious tented suites sits on a raised wooden deck, under the shady boughs of wild ebony trees. You’ll enjoy spectacular views of the hippo-filled lagoon from all angles – be it in your private plunge pool, the sunken sundeck, the bathtub or the outdoor shower. Come evening, enjoy a delicious al fresco dinner on the deck at the main lodge, followed by stargazing around a crackling firepit.

Activities

Being at the upstream end of the Okavango Delta, this area receives the annual floodwaters first, which allows for almost year-round water-based activities and incredible wildlife watching experiences. Here, you can observe buffalo congregating on the edge of the water, and come eye to eye with hippos and crocs on a boat or traditional mokoro safari through the lily-filled channels. Back on dry land, go on a game drive through vast tracts of pristine wilderness in search of lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, and the rare sitatunga antelope, as well as more than 350 bird species. At an additional cost, you can also take to the skies in a helicopter for soaring wildlife views, to see ancient rock art at Tsodilo Hills, or to visit local communities.
