Thatched chalets line the Kavango River in the Caprivi region of northern Namibia and you are very far from anything but the African bush. Choose one of ten simple brick and thatch bungalows or six safari tents. All accommodation is en-suite with air-conditioning, hot water and flushing toilets and 220V electricity.
Jackalberry trees and wild date palms shade the main lodge and the dining area, river bar and swimming pool all look out over the Kavango River.
Mahangu Safari Lodge is 200km east of Rundu at the gateway to the lush Caprivi and is an excellent value-for-money stopover to break up the long drives.
Note: as with many Namibian safari lodges in remote locations, hunting is a way of life and trophies are considered an art form. While it is all ecologically sound and humane, if it's not your thing then it's just not your thing. Please let us know, and we'll steer you clear of the huntin' shootin' fishin' type lodges.
