Located in the southern area of the Kruger National Park, the 15,000 hectare property enjoys a serene setting along the banks of the Lwakahle River. Built on stilts in front of a natural-fed spring, the lodge blends in seamlessly with its surroundings, with light streaming through latticed ceilings and river views affording thrilling wildlife sightings.
Richly textured natural fabrics, bright pops of colour, and artisanal artwork prevail throughout the lodge, with a lounge and bar, dining room, and relaxation alcoves offering plenty of space to relax. Guests can also cool off in the scenic pool, overlooking the river – with a children’s paddle pool nearby.
Furnished in a classic style, Lukimbi’s 16 suites are connected to the main lodge via raised wooden walkways, and allow for complete privacy – whether you’re travelling as a couple or a family. The 2 premier suites also feature a private patio and pool.
The expansive reserve is traversed by a maximum of just 6 vehicles at any given time – making a safari here a highly exclusive experience, during which you’re likely to spot the Big Five, as well as some of the park’s 420 native bird species.
In between game drives, guests can relax, work out at the gym, or indulge in a spa treatment. Come evening, recap the day’s explorations during dinner at a surprise location – be it on the deck, the award-winning wine cellar, or the boma.
Twice daily game drives with highly experienced guides and trackers will take you in search of predators and other thriving wildlife, with guided river and bush walks also available. The Kids’ Programme starts after breakfast, with a dedicated guide introducing mini rangers to a wide range of fun bush activities. Avid golfers can tee off at Leopard Creek Golf Course, an hour’s drive from the lodge – the course’s water features ensure that sightings of crocodile, hippo, and elephant are commonplace.
