5 stars

An intimate safari escape in a private Big Five reserve.

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Tucked within the Makalali Private Nature Reserve west of Kruger National Park, Little Garonga offers a deeply personal safari experience. Part of the greater Greater Kruger National Park ecosystem, you’ll find exceptional Big Five sightings in a tranquil, uncrowded setting.

Completely separate from its sister camps, Little Garonga is an intimate, self-contained lodge designed for privacy. With the option to book suites independently or the entire lodge on an exclusive-use basis, it provides a flexible option for couples, families or small groups seeking privacy in the bush – from honeymoons and romantic getaways to multi-generational holidays.

Just 3 thatched, air-conditioned suites are arranged around a central indoor and covered outdoor lounge area, overlooking the bushveld.

The Hambleden Suite is a spacious two-bedroom private villa accommodating a family of up to 4. Bedrooms centre around four-poster beds and generous ensuite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and a striking hand-beaten copper bathtub. The indoor living space opens onto a covered outdoor lounge and private deck with its own pool.

Chiltern and Buckingham are cosy 1-bedroom suites designed for couples, each featuring a king-size bed, small lounge, and ensuite bathroom with bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers. Raised wooden decks with seating and hammocks invite relaxed afternoons watching wildlife pass by.

The main lodge area includes a dining area, fireplace, reading nook and ‘help-yourself’ bar. Outside, a covered lounge leads to a generous pool, yoga deck and a barbecue area. Additional facilities include an open-air Bush Bath, romantic Star Bath, sleep-out experience overlooking a watering hole, an onsite massage therapist, and traditional boma for fireside dining.
