Goo-Moremi Gorge Resort

Goo-Moremi Gorge Resort

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Set within a protected conservation area at the foot of the dramatic Tswapong Hills in eastern Botswana, Goo Moremi Gorge Resort is a community-based tourism initiative that offers a peaceful retreat rooted in conservation and local heritage. Located at the entrance to the Goo Moremi Gorge, the resort is surrounded by towering rock faces, lush vegetation and seasonal waterfalls, creating a setting that feels both secluded and deeply restorative.

The main lodge area is relaxed and welcoming, with a restaurant and bar opening out onto shaded outdoor spaces that look towards the hills. A swimming pool provides a refreshing break after time spent exploring the gorge and surrounding trails.

Accommodation is simple and varied, from 8 Meru-style tents with ensuite bathrooms and showers to 6 self-catering chalets and 5 camp sites with private ablution facilities, a wash-up area and braai facilities. Each unit is designed for ease and functionality, offering a restful base from which to explore the area.

Goo Moremi is less about traditional safari and more about immersion in Botswana’s lesser-known natural beauty. Walking trails lead into the gorge, a protected national heritage site where waterfalls, rock pools and rich birdlife await. The area is a breeding ground for the endangered Cape vulture, with leopard, hyena and kudu living in the hills.

Activities

Explorations are centred around the Goo Moremi Gorge, with walking trails leading to waterfalls, rock pools, indigenous forests, and viewpoints along the cliffs. The natural pools are a highlight in warmer months, while birding is rewarding throughout the area. Cultural visits and guided experiences offer insight into local traditions.

Sustainability

While the setting is inherently conservation-focused, the property itself is relatively simple and doesn’t showcase advanced eco-technology (e.g. large-scale solar, zero-waste systems, etc.).

Sustainability here is:
  • Driven by location and community involvement
  • More about preservation than innovation
  • Authentic but not highly developed
Energy Efficiency
Waste Management
Sustainable Sourcing
Water Conservation
Community and Environment Benefit
Site and Building Impact
