The first lodge on the left as you enter Epupa, Epupa Falls Lodge is a privately owned and run lodge offering a unique stay, with the best views over the Kunene River and the Epupa Falls in the heart of Kaokoland.
It’s nothing fancy but with great hosts and the best location in the area it’s well worth the stay. You're on the Kunene River within earshot of the Epupa Falls.
Rustic wooden, canvas and thatch chalets on stiltz give a spectacular view of the river out front through a framed window, which is really more a tented 'flap' that opens up to allow the breeze in and allow you to look out onto the stunning surrounds.
What used to be only a campsite is now a small and intimate lodge comprised of 9 chalets (including one for the honeymooners) and still offers 7 campsites under the shade of the makalanis’. A paradise in an otherwise dry and arid region.
Built of local materials, the lodge has an aptly 'local cultural' feel. The chalets offer all the basics with en suite bathrooms, hot running water, alluring mozzi nets, solar power and coffee or tea in bed.
Excellent bird watching; sundowner viewpoint; hiking (go at sunrise); Epupa tours & visits to Himba villages.
Day drives through Zebra Mountain also include a Himba village visit and optional hiking.
Photographic tours can be done on request.
Relax and enjoy the on-site masseuse.
