Four suites giving you exclusive access to the Big 5

Please note: Our review of this property has not yet been added. Watch this space. We're working on it.

As a tailor-made tour operator, we often have to get creative when designing your perfect itinerary.

For example, your travel consultant might add this property to your itinerary if:

Location is a significant factor
It offers a unique feature that will enhance your experience
This is a last-minute booking and room availability is limited
Cost is a factor and you'd rather splash out on another part of your trip
This is a newly opened or refurbished property that we have not inspected yet

When designing your custom itinerary we have much to consider not least of which is the value proposition of every product and service included in your quote. In all cases we strive to give you the best experience possible within your budget so please feel free to ask your travel consultant to share their reasons for including this property in your itinerary.

Want to see the Big 5 in the wild? Leadwood is one of three high quality safari lodges in the Dulini Private Game reserve which is located in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. And it’s home to the Big 5 and so much more wildlife.

The 4 suites

Picture yourselves relaxing in your suite’s private, heated infinity edge pool, listening to the gentle trickle of the Sand and Mabrak Rivers and the sounds of the wildlife that calls this place home. Then spending a leisurely afternoon in your lounge area with fireplace and under-floor heating, or out on your viewing deck perhaps with some binoculars and a glass of something bubbly within easy reach, looking out over the reserve.

Staying at Leadwood gives you the chance to slow down the pace of life big time and enjoy privacy. Because each lodge is quite some distance from the next, so you’ll get a real sense of tranquillity.

Rise early from the comfortable, mosquito net enclosed bed and refresh in your bathroom or outdoor shower before heading out on the first game drive of the day under the guidance of expert rangers.

If the Big 5 are on your ‘must-see’ list, Dulini is as good a place as any to see them all, with another afternoon or evening drive available every day to give you the best chance to see the magnificent mammals and more, including hyena, hippo and antelope.

Book one, book them all

With just 4 suites and only ever a maximum of 8 guests in attendance at one time, Leadwood qualifies as cosy, intimate safari accommodation, so much so that, subject to availability, you can book all 4 suites just for your group if you want (subject to availability).

Things get tasty at mealtimes

When you’re ready to eat, meals are served back at the main lodge in the dining room or boma, which is a traditional outdoor eating area with bonfire that’s well worth experiencing at least once while you’re in South Africa

Plenty going on

The array of activities you can take part in when you stay here is impressive. Game drives are on the menu of course, so too guided bushwalks, both run by some of the best trackers and rangers in the business. You can also turn your attention to the skies for stargazing and birdwatching.

The main lodge has a treehouse viewing deck giving you another angle from which to enjoy the wildlife. Also here is the shared swimming pool plus a spa and bar, a gym to work out in and a lounge to relax in.
