Air Travel to Namibia

March 27, 2023

There are many possible flight options from wherever you are to Namibia and our special part of southern Africa. Although direct flights are limited, there are numerous route options to consider and ways to connect flights to get there.

Currently the only operating direct flight from Europe is the daily direct flight from Germany to Windhoek, but Ethiopian Airlines and Qatar Airways offer frequent flights into Windhoek too.

Alternatively, there are daily flights by major airlines to Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa where you can easily catch a connecting flight to Windhoek or Walvis Bay. It’s a short hop over (approximately 2 hours).

Direct International flights:

Eurowings Discover/Lufthansa Frankfurt – Windhoek 7 days/week (10 hours)

Ethiopian Airlines Addis Ababa – Windhoek 5 days/week (6 hours)

Qatar Airways Doha – Windhoek 3 days/week (9 hours)

*There are more direct international flights planned for the near future from Brussels and Amsterdam.

Connecting Flights:

Airlink Johannesburg – Windhoek 7 days/week (2 hours)

Airlink Cape town – Windhoek 7 days/week (2 hours)

FlyNambia Cape town – Windhoek 7 days/week (2 hours)

International flights to South Africa:

There are many, many flights to South Africa. Speak to your travel agent about getting the most convenient and cost effective flights for you.

The most popular airlines are: South Africa Airways, British Airways, Delta Airlines, Swiss Air, KLM, Air France, Virgin Atlantic

Connecting Namibia with Botswana or Victoria Falls:

Eurowings Discover/Lufthansa Windhoek – Victoria Falls 3 days/week

This is currently the only direct flight option. Alternatively you could fly via South Africa to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone (Zambia) and for Botswana via South Africa to Maun or Kasane – there are flights from both Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Other options to connect with neighbouring countries would be to include national flights within Namibia to the nearest destination to the border crossing and then include transfers as necessary by road or alternatively a private charter flight between destinations.

Speak to a travel expert for guidance.
