General Manager Steven Jacob and Chef Annelie Maes add a finesse to this lodge and if we're looking at standards and service, there's little left to desire with these two at the helm.
Previously running Zannier's Le Chalet in the French Alps, these two know what a great hotel is all about and the experience that is deserved. All that has changed is their climate and setting, for the rest they remain fantastic hosts to either the start or end of your Namibian holiday.
Situated just 30 minutes out of Windhoek and 20 minutes from the Windhoek International Airport, yet relaxing at the pool or post massage, with the savanna plains of the Khomas Hochland ahead of you, you'd never think you were even remotely close to either. So far removed as a destination on its own - not just for the property but for the offering by Zannier Hotels in all.
Nothing is inapposite and the finest detail has been cared for. It'll be hard to find even a single piece of thatch out of place or to believe that the glass-like water of the swimming pool was not planned that way. Even in its reserved elegance, it is almost over the top, offering somehow even more than can be seen or is needed. An earthen warmth found in the unique Owambo architecture, each hut has it all and then some. If you find this at the beginning of your itinerary it'll be a tough act to follow and if you're ending here, you've certainly saved the best for last. Either way though, you're in for a treat. We don't want to say too much for fear of giving it away but at the same time there simply are no words to describe it.
Morning and afternoon game drives on the 9000 hectare private Zannier Reserve of Naankuse – included if booked on a fully inclusive basis.
Optional extra activities would allow you to head over to the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary for cheetah walks, rhino, elephant and leopard tracking, Meerkat observations or a visit to the Shiloh Wildlife Sanctuary.
Visit the local school or simply relax with a spa treatment.
In 2016, thousands of hectares of prime conservation land adjacent to the Naankuse Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary faced urban development threats that would endanger numerous wildlife species. Co-founder Marlice van Vuuren enlisted the help of Angelina Jolie, who connected her with Arnaud Zannier of the Zannier Hotel Group. Recognising the area's conservation potential, Zannier established Omaanda Lodge in 2017, preserving the land for wildlife. This reserve now hosts conflict species like elephants, desert-adapted lions, and white rhinos, allowing them to thrive under careful monitoring.
